The king's body is the guarantor of this stability, and the Muslim world inherits this dimension, which promotes the caliph or imam, according to the doctrines of power, as "the shadow of God on earth." This essential aspect of the politico-religious ideology finds an echo in the visual culture of the medieval East where, apart from palatial vaults, coins, metals, courtroom ritual from the Abbassids, illuminated manuscripts from different corpora, pseudo- scientific as cosmography, literary as poetry or epic, in turn perpetuate the memory of the close links between kings and heavens. In fact, one of the dimensions of cosmic royalty rest on the anthropomorphic representation of the stars, luminaries in particular, promoted by Hellenistic astrology that symbolize temporal powers well through hermetic analogies as the themes of metals from the twelfth to the fifteenth century show. This book also invites the reader to discover the dreams of flight and travel in the hereafter, transposition of a theme from the ancient hierogamies, now completed in the Mi'rj̉, the heavenly journey of the Prophet Muhammad.''
